Around 1998 the State of North Carolina started requiring everyone to be tested and licensed to perform home inspections. I was one of the first teachers on how to pass the state exam and also offered continuing education. I have taught a lot of people over the years. One of the best ways to get a good home inspector is to ask what their license number is, the lower the better. My Number is 296 in N.C. and 196 in S.C. All numbers under 400 are people who were in the home inspection business before a license was required.
